Two months after the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, phone fans are desperate to hear about Samsung’s next big foldable innovation. According to a new report, Samsung is considering a US release for its first ever trifold phone, but a final decision has yet to be made.
The handset has long been teased by Samsung, with it openly saying it was working on a trifold device, showing concepts, and even saying it was aiming to release the phone by the end of the year. This is the first time sources have specifically spoken about a US release.
Samsung has a history of launching its more innovative and niche products in select markets, normally within its home of South Korea. That’s happened before with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE.
According to sources familiar with Samsung’s plans, speaking to CNN, it’s currently deciding whether to bring its device to the US. If it does, it will happen before the end of the year.
Korean media reported last month that Samsung was aiming to host an Unpacked event on Sept. 29, but it appears that may have been delayed. Earlier this week, Korean outlet ET News said Samsung was now aiming for an Oct. 21 launch.
That report is based on rumors, so take it with a grain of salt. ET News sources said the brand would introduce its foldable device alongside its first Galaxy XR headset, but the brand’s first glasses, to compete with products like Meta’s new Ray-Bans with a built-in display, are set for 2026.

A recent leak from the Galaxy S25 FE’s software seemingly revealed the name Galaxy XR for the brand’s first AR headset. The device has previously been referred to as Project Moohan, but an element in the Camera Assistant app on the phone suggests it’ll take the Galaxy name.
It also says there will be a spatial photo and video feature, similar to Apple’s Vision Pro headset. It will allow you to use your phone to take immersive photographs and videos, which you can then view on the headset.
